Waiver Statement:

  • As the parent/legal guardian of the minor named as “Attendee” in the next section, I give the minor permission to participate in the 2026 California Monterey County Mock Trial Competition/Courtroom Artist Contest/Courtroom Journalist Contest which takes place Feb 2nd - Feb 14th, 2026 at the Monterey Courthouse in Monterey, CA. I have reviewed the rules of the competition in the Team Rulebook, and the Monterey County Mock Trial behavior notice with the minor and we both agree to follow the rules of the competition and understand we must abide by the code of ethics.

  • In consideration for their participation in the 2026 Monterey County Mock Trial Competition, I release The Lyceum of Monterey County from any and all claims, demands, and liabilities, including any all claims for copyright, libel and invasion of privacy. I also agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless The Lyceum of Monterey County staff, program organizers and sponsors and facilities for any and all claims, damage, costs and expenses resulting from lawsuits and other proceedings by any third parties arising out of any acts, omissions or conduct of my child while participating in the 2026 Monterey County Mock Trial Competition.

  • As a participant in the 2026 Monterey County Mock Trial Competition, I authorize The Lyceum of Monterey County and/or assignees or licensees to take and use photographs, recorded video images and/or contest submissions (such as art and journalism) of my child, for educational, promotional or illustrative purposes. I understand that the above activities will not result in any profit, and that I will not receive any monetary compensation. Permission is granted to make changes or alterations and to use my child’s name or a fictitious name in editorial works or advertising.

  • As the parent or legal guardian of a participant in the 2026 Monterey County Mock Competition, I have reviewed the Monterey County Mock Trial behavior Notice with the minor and we both agree to follow the policies. I understand that the minor identified as “Attendee” may contract a communicable disease while in transit to or from the competition or during the competition.  I agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Lyceum of Monterey County and program organizers and sponsors for any and all claims that may arise from the minor participating in the Monterey County Mock Trial program, including but not limited to contracting or exposing others to a communicable disease.

  • Theft, Damage, or Loss to Child’s Personal Property: I understand that The Lyceum of Monterey County is not responsible for any theft, damage or loss to my child’s personal property while participating in the Program.
  • Adherence to Standards: I understand that my child must abide by all laws, regulations, Lyceum of Monterey County procedures, policies, and rules at all times during my child’s participation in the program. I understand that if I permit my child, or if my child chooses to participate in any conduct, excursions, or other activities in violation of The Lyceum of Monterey County procedures, policies, and rules prior, during or after the Program, which are not included or part of the scheduled Program, that they do so voluntarily and that The Lyceum of Monterey County is not responsible for my child or my child’s actions.
  • Potential Disputes Resolved in Monterey County: I agree that this Release Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflicts of laws principles. I agree that any dispute about the terms of this Release shall be presented to a court of competent jurisdiction in the State of California with a venue in Monterey County.
  • Parental/Guardian Certification: I certify that I have read (or had someone read to me) and understand this entire Release Agreement, and understand the dangers involved in participating in this Program. I am fully aware of the legal consequences of this Release Agreement, and I agree to its terms. I represent and warrant that I am eighteen (18) years of age or older and have the legal authority to execute this Release Agreement on behalf of the listed child.
  • By checking the box below and clicking the "Continue" button, I agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Lyceum of Monterey County, its affiliate programs, and its staff, trustees and sponsors, for any personal injuries or property damages arising out of my child/student's participation in the event/program for which I am currently registering. I also understand that by agreeing, I am certifying that my child/student understands what is involved in participation; that I have freely and voluntarily allowed my child/student to participate and hereby agree to assume and accept any and all risks associated with his/her participation in the event/program for which I am registering him/her.
